More than a ride, this journey stands as a powerful testament to the timeless values of service, resilience, and sacrifice—ideals at the very heart of our nation’s bravest. By drawing on the storied heritage of The Special Forces Club (SFC) London, we honor those who have come before, even as we forge a brighter path for future generations. Every contribution strengthens the SFC Benevolent Fund’s crucial work, reflecting The Forged Eagle Society’s own unwavering commitment to uniting communities, cultivating leadership, and preserving the proud legacies that bind us all.
THE SHACKLETON OATH
“Members wanted for hazardous journey,” the advert began.
“No wages, baking hot and bitter cold temperatures,” it continued. “Injury and ailments likely. Safe return not guaranteed.”
Howard Leedham, a former special forces officer, circulated this Shackleton-esque proposal to members of the Special Forces Club, a private organisation for those who have served in special operations and intelligence.
More than 40 responded after the advert was published in August. Next week, five will set off.
The hazardous journey Leedham described is a 700-mile trek through the Arabian Desert on camelback, retracing the route taken by TE Lawrence to seize Aqaba in 1917.
